Portobello West is back! (March 28th and 29th)

Hello friends,

It has been a while... I hope you have all had a good beginning to 2009!
So the Portobello Market is back. It is a 2 day market to celebrate the beginning of another year of art markets in Vancouver.
I will be at this market and then possibly not again until the fall, so if you are interested in some jewellery, please come and see me this coming weekend.
The following write up is from the Portobello staff, and I thought it was interesting so I've included it for you.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures; that means shopping people! We have to do our part to boost the economy and if it means buying that great piece that you've been eyeing for the good of your province, that's just the sacrifice you're going to have to make! Thankfully Portobello West is back from its holiday hiatus to help you out with supporting our local economy; returning with a double dose of designer goodness on March 28th and 29th.

During the economic crunch some of us feel a little helpless to the events that are happening around us. Well there's no need, shopping locally is one of the easiest things that you can do to improve the situation around you. Even Michelle Obama has taken the lead and specifically chose an American designer's piece to wear to the Inauguration Ball. So do as the elite do and start honing in on some of our local talent; not only will you get the warm fuzzies knowing you have supported a fellow British Columbian but most of Portobello West's vendors are also eco-friendly.

Aside from great shopping, Portobello West serves up gourmet hotdogs, fine savory and sweet crepes and coffee! Located at the Rocky Mountaineer Station, 1755 Cottrell St (just off Terminal Ave), Portobello West is accessible from Main Street Skytrain (free shuttle available), has an abundance of free parking on site."
